In a chilling act of violence early Friday morning, a man identified as Dacian John, reportedly a serving member of the Trinidad and Tobago Defence Force, was shot and killed while seated in his vehicle.
The incident occurred at approximately 1:26 a.m. on May 2, 2025, along Cassia Street in Southern Gardens, Point Fortin. John, who was reportedly off-duty at the time, was attacked in what appears to have been a targeted assault. Sources indicate that his firearm was taken from the scene, raising concerns about illegal arms circulation.
Witnesses in the area reported seeing three men fleeing the scene in a dark-colored Toyota Aqua, which has since become a key detail in the ongoing investigation.
Authorities were alerted shortly after the incident.
Investigators are currently working to identify and locate the suspects, and residents are urged to come forward with any information that could assist the police.
This incident has sparked renewed concerns about rising crime in the Point Fortin area and the targeting of law enforcement and military personnel.
