His professional path led him to Trinmar, where he worked alongside many in the energy sector. His dedication and leadership qualities propelled him to the position of Branch President of the Oilfields Workers’ Trade Union (OWTU), where he advocated tirelessly for workers’ rights and fair labor practices.
In a notable display of political maturity and unity, Ernesto aligned his candidacy with the United National Congress (UNC) for the recent election, despite previous differences, which at one point is believed to have led to his dismissal from Petrotrin’s Trinmar Operations.
This decision underscored his commitment to prioritizing the needs and aspirations of Point Fortin’s residents over partisan divides.
Ernesto’s campaign resonated deeply with constituents, many of whom have faced economic and social challenges in recent years.
