Point Fortin, Trinidad and Tobago –
Talent On-Point Winners Strike a Chord in CSEC Exams
The spotlight continues to shine on the winners of the recent Teen Talent On-Point competition, as they celebrate not only their musical prowess but also their academic excellence.
Darion St. Clair, the competition’s winning pannist, has added yet another feather to his cap with outstanding CSEC results. The Presentation College San Fernando student who also plays with the San City Steel Orchestra, secured nine passes, earning an impressive eight grade 1s and one grade 2. His fellow competitor, Nissi Henry, also excelled, earning six CSEC passes, equally divided between grades 1 and 2.
Darion’s father, Damien St. Clair, credits his son’s success to discipline and a well-rounded approach to life. He emphasized that pursuing extracurricular activities, such as playing the steel pan, even during high-pressure exam periods, can be beneficial rather than detrimental. Damien also pointed to his daughter, Damia, who attended St. Stephen’s College, as a prime example.
Damia is also an accomplished pannist who achieved eight grade 1s in her CSEC exams two years ago and went on to earn two CAPE distinctions this year, all in spite of actively participating in Panorama competitions, and studying for exams.
Nissi’s mother expressed immense pride in her daughter’s academic achievements. The third-place winner, Molique Noel, is currently going into Form 4 and did not sit exams this year.
We congratulate Darion and Nissi on their exceptional talents and academic accomplishments. Their stories serve as an inspiration to young people across the nation, demonstrating that it is possible to excel in both the arts and academics.
The finals on the Teen Talent Competition was held on Sunday 18th August 2024 at the Point Fortin Town Hall. Darion St. Clair Emerged as the winner playing Lord Kitchener’s Pan in A Minor.
